Adding sftp to nard

Hi Firstly thanks for a great Linux version for the Raspberry pi, it built and installed first time.
I want to develop programmes for it using the Eclipse IDE. I have set up eclipse and I can contact
the Pi, my problem is that to download programmes Eclipse is requesting sftp and being new to the Linux
Kerenel do not know how to add it to a new Kernel. Would you be able to give me some advice ?
I have run menuconfig on busybox and Linux-Kernel but can't find it.
